PAR is the abbreviation from Parabolic Aluminized Reflector. There is a wide range of light fixtures that use this parabolic aluminized reflector. The PAR lamp includes all the most important parts of a light : the globe , the lens and reflector. PAR's are popular because they put out a lot of light per watt, more than any other incandescent fixture.

PAR Fixtures:

  • PAR Cans : are simple , lightweight, inexpensive, maintenance free, and made for the heavy-duty life of the concert tour. Their design is as simple as they come. A PAR lamp mounted inside a can that provides a gel frame slot in the front of the barrel. PAR cans generally do not come with scrims.
  • PAR Arrays : many fixtures simply house clusters of PAR lamps on a single base. The lamps are individually switched, with 1,2,4,6,9...36 lights to a cluster. They are referred to by the number of lights in the cluster. Large PAR arrays can put out a lot of light. They are often used to light large spaces at night or bounced into a 12 x 12 white griff for soft fill.
